Black Desert Online

This game looks so fucking beautiful. It’s a Korean open-world sandbox MMORPG. The customization in the character creator is EXTREMELY COMPLEX. Like holy shit, you can adjust the bone structure of nearly every part of your character’s body.

The graphics look very good, and from what I’ve seen in videos, I can only describe the gameplay as fast-paced.

I’m downloading the game client from a Mega download link on Reddit right now. It’s 19 GB. (╯︵╰,)

BTW, it’s currently in open beta and it’s free-to-play. There are a bunch of guides you can follow to download, install, and set the game up here:

There is also an English patch available.

Are there any official plans of a western release? I’m assuming even with the English patch you’re playing on Korean servers.

Yeah, they said that they have plans in bringing the game to the west in late 2015, at the earliest, or early 2016, at the latest. They’d also like to release a PS4 version. As of right now, you can only play on a Korean server. There’s a Russian closed beta planned for next month most likely.

The major hurdle in being able to play this game is registering a Gaum account:

The open beta trial is currently only available in Korea and thus requires a Daum account with an I-pin attached. The only way to obtain an I-pin is to verify with either a KSSN or Korean phone number.

An I-pin is something obtained via a KSSN or Korean phone number that you attach to your Daum account. It verifies that you are of the proper age to play 18+ games (which Black Desert is). As such, you need to have one to play. There is no current way around it.

There are two ways to get an I-pin, either buying a $10 account on a site or getting a Korean person to register an account for you. The latter might be possible if a Korean on Reddit does it for you. I might look into that.
