Classic Star Wars X-Wing and TIE Fighter games are getting digital rereleases

The discovery led GOG.com to post an official announcement a little early; the service has been teasing a new publishing deal that would be announced on Tuesday. Both X-Wing and TIE Fighter are coming to the digital distribution service as part of a new partnership that Disney that will lead to some 30 games being released via GOG.com without DRM protection.

Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition will include the Star Wars: X-Wing Collector’s CD-ROM and both Tour of Duty expansions: Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing. The Special Edition release of Star Wars: TIE Fighter will include the Defender of the Empire expansion, both in the 1994 and 1998 versions, GOG.com says.

X-Wing and TIE Fighter will cost $9.99 each.

What do you mean by “ugh”? If you buy an old game from most other services it is unlikely to launch on modern computers.

Oh my god yessssss. Gimmie that good old Lucas Arts goodness. X-Wing was one of my first PC games that I ever played.

You can add non-Steam games to your Steam client if you prefer to launch all games from there.

That doesn’t concern me too much. I’m just hating that I have to deal with multiple storefronts.
