E3 2015: New online system will unite all Bethesda games

#1

Bethesda has teased a new online service that is designed to link all of its games and its community.

Named Bethesda.net and announced during the firm’s E3 press conference, the new portal “will be at the heart of everything Bethesda will do”, according to PR boss Pete Hines. MCV also reports that it will help the company interact with fans.

Little is known about the full features of the portal, although Bethesda confirmed it would be integrated into The Elder Scrolls Online and feature new fan forums.

It will also power Doom SnapMap, a newly-announced feature of the upcoming shooter that lets players create their own levels and gameplay modes and then share them with friends.

The system sounds similar to EA Origin and Ubisoft’s uPlay, although it’s unclear whether Bethesda.net will also sell the company’s games.

Good news, but I don;t really understand why. Bethesda’s main games aren’t multiplayer, so idk why you would need something like this.

Please don’t try to part ways with steam.

#3

Cool, more services to run in the background. We needed more of those.

#4

I’m hoping it’s just going to be their new launcher for all their games, and not necessarily a background service.

#5

I don’t see any real difference. I don’t want it.

#6

I hope it is optional.

#7

It won’t. They wouldn’t let it.

#8

You’re probably right. If it was optional it would just be a community website.

#9

I bet it’s optional in the sense that you can just load fallout.exe instead of going through the launcher.

They couldn’t make it mandatory to use it to play the game or it would break a lot of mods.

#10

I know you think that makes logical sense but think about it this way: why would they bother making this and not make it mandatory?

#11

Because its Bethesda

You need to learn that they’re a company and not your friend.
