Movies seen over the weekend

#103

I hated that movie so much

#104

I’m really excited to watch that, Das.

I think the title is just Gone Girl.

#105

I suspect that’s the joke given Ben Affleck’s presence.

#106

I watched Lord of War cause it was on tv and I was bored

its still a good movie, maybe best unironic nic cage movie

scathing social commentary on UN corruption / gun porn helps

#107

Serenity (2005) has a surprisingly high score on IMDB. I watched for the first time tonight and even though it was an decent movie I don’t see why it would have an average score of 8.

#108

I thought it was garbage

#109

There are a few funny lines. Acting and action aren’t great.

#110

It’s called fans.

#111

Welcome to the Whedonverse.

#112

Dude I was a monster Firefly fan. That’s why the movie was shit. Nothing like the show.

#113

Oh, it’s part of a series. I never watched Firefly, Battlestar Galactica or any of the other more modern sci-fi series.

#114

smh

#115

Just watched this. It was dark but a bit funny in a odd way at times. I enjoyed it, for the visual details and the haunting music. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was getting myself into, and it definitely took me places I wasn’t expecting.

Smart chilling movie. I hope to see more Rosemund Pike as she was brilliant in this.

#116

The banter in Guardians of the Galaxy is well written and it has good pacing. Like most comic book movies I enjoyed it.

#117

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is the worst movie I’ve seen in years.

#118

its not even close to bad though

#119

I rated it a 4 out of 10 on IMDB.

The Babadook

what a fail ending. literally perfect first hour, avoided the cheap jump scares and focused on establishing a creepy entity preying on already well-portrayed, fucked up dysfunctional kid and single mom. twisted minds.

then poof! a psychologically abused 7 year old successfully incapacitates the creature possessing his mother, exorcises his mother and after a firm shouting competition the creature is scared into the basement where it peacefully resides, placated by a daily feeding of worms indefinitely.

not even a the descent-style “the woman thinks everything is fine but she’s really just had a psychotic break and she’s actually just fully insane and truly fucked” ending. not a “the audience thinks everything is fine but then everybody is slaughtered by the unstoppable evil” ending.

the evil entity just runs away from a batshit single mom and hides in the basement.

what a crock of shit.

i mean i’ve yet to see a scary or “creepy” film but this shit was a fucking joke.

#121

I walked out of Babadook after an hour of the kid not getting killed, I hope he gets killed, right?

#122

nope. they all live happily ever after.
