Next Assassin's Creed announced - will have Victorian era London setting

Victorian era. Fuck yeah. This is what Unity should have been. Had they not worked on Unity at all, and dedicated their time on this one, any bugs or polish would’ve been worked on. Then again, it’s Ubi. They’re the western version of Square Enix in game development fuck ups.
Following this year’s Assassin’s Creed Unity, a new Assassin’s Creed game code-named Assassin’s Creed Victory will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in fall 2015, a person familiar with the game has told Kotaku.

Victory is set in London during the Victorian era. Its development is led by Ubisoft Quebec—which developed the Assassin’s Creed III and IV downloadable expansions “The Tyranny of King Washington” and “Freedom Cry”—rather than the usual Ubisoft Montreal.

Unlike fall of 2014, this will be the only Assassin’s Creed game released next fall. There won’t be a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 entry like Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, according to Kotaku’s source.

The screenshots in this article come from a seven-minute “target gameplay footage” video seen by Kotaku that demonstrates what Ubisoft Quebec expects from the upcoming game. Although not actual gameplay, the video claims it was produced entirely in Ubisoft’s Anvil engine.

In the video, the assassin protagonist is tasked with killing a man named Roderick Bulmer. He gets this assignment from a woman in a carriage, which is then attacked, forcing the assassin to fight the enemy atop the moving buggy. He gets off the carriage at the Charing Cross railway station, trades his hood for a top hat, and runs through the crowd to hunt down Bulmer, who is standing among the crowd of the plaza. The assassin leaps off a platform and uses a grappling hook to swing over Bulmer and stab him in the chest. A train comes and the assassin uses it to escape, eventually leaping off the train into a haystack as the camera pans out toward the London horizon and the video comes to a close.
Laboured, I know you’re getting turned on right now.

AC needs to completely re-design it’s mechanics and design from the ground up before I return to it.

A total mod conversion (which is what these games have been since AC2) doesn’t interest me in the slightest.

I agree.

They should have let the series rest a year and redesign the game’s mechanics. The “coat of paint” mentality broke Unity and it may do the same for this game also.

#5

So we’re playing Tarzan?

#6

I’m pretty tired of all these ACs man. Take a break, work on a different IP.

How fucking nuts it is that the original is still the freshest and most interesting AC game of the entire franchise.

Ubi needs some perspective holy shit.

If it’s any consolation, the Unity studio isn’t working on this one.

I disagree that the original AC is the most interesting. ACIII innovated the series with ship sailing, but the rest of the game fell short. To me, ACIV felt like what ACIII should have been. ACIV is the most interesting and refreshing installment to date.
