Double the resolution and that would be sorta cool.
Would be concerned by the frame rate and input response issues that thing might introduce.

PS4 barely gets above that res anyway.
Input lag is a serious concern, though. Maybe since it’s laser and not bulb-driven it’ll have faster response times.
They’re both the same to me since I don’t have them
But I’ll probably pick up a PS4 near the end of its life if there’s enough exclusives I want to play.
Does anyone have any good resources for online game development tutorials? I think I want to learn Unreal Engine, but Unity or any of the other free to use engines is fine with me. I want to try building some basic environments for VR.
I had a vision yesterday of hanging out with my friends on the platform of Final Destination from smash bros in VR. Need to make that a reality.
I don’t have any, but I’d recommend you download one of the SDKs and start playing. There are plenty of guides online if you look. Unreal is good if you don’t have any programming skills, since you can do almost everything without it. Unity requires programming for anything complex.
If you want to look at development specifically aimed at VR make sure you pick an engine with native support. You don’t want it to be much more difficult to initiate than enabling a switch.
Are you already familiar with programming in general?
Eh, I took some basic language classes in college, programming really isn’t my thing. So I can read it ok and get the gist of a script, but I can’t say that I can write it.
I think Unreal has native VR support
Sooner or later you are going to run into limits that will require you to at least write some scripts. If you’re not willing to do that then you need to team up a friend.
The engine is free and there are plenty of tutorials. Give it a try.
A friend of mine got a dev kit a few months ago and we reached the conclusion that making a VR game was too much effort for a small team of part-time programmers.
Well, he is still using it for playing other people’s demos.
He picked it up from our equivalent of Craigslist and it wasn’t that expensive. If you don’t like it then you can sell it for almost the same price.
If I get serious about this I’ll be making things pretty much exclusively for VR
But I’ll still check it out
