Rock, Paper, Shotgun | 2016 Will Be Great For Gamers: Part 1, Graphics

If there aren’t any delays then I might pick a new card and a fancy G-sync monitor for summer next year.

2016 is truly the year of dreams

#807

Yes lad

#808

KH3 looks ace.

Don’t forget those trailers:

Jump Fiesta trailers might have deserved a thread.

It’s nice that we’re getting more RPGs for the PS4. My expectations for these aren’t high but perhaps they will be alright.

#813

It’s not so nice for my wallet XD Let me explain…

I wrote the PS4 off thinking it would be a console that would focus on western games mostly. I don’t know if its library is more evenly divided thanks to some of the new announcements, but most of these announcements have been big. I can’t believe we are going to have FFXV, FFVII, KH3, DQ11, SOV, NieR 2 etc. If all of those games deliver…then it goes without saying that the PS4 will be a must have for a person interested in those type of games.

Currently the PS4 is getting some awesome deals in the Netherlands. You can get a 500gb model for €270-288 euros. I managed to barely resist the temptation though. My reasons being as follows:

  1. Currently there aren’t enough games that are to my taste. It would be best to get one (if it happens) once most of the aforementioned games have been released. By that time, the system might become cheaper and will be newly purchased.
  2. The games might end up disappointing and being riddled with transactions.
  3. I don’t have the time for a PS4, backlog too big.
  4. I want to get out of gaming, the ‘feeling forced to buy consoles and any games that interest me’ problem that I want to get out of.

I want to be able to finish all those games I have been buying for years…I can’t keep doing this…This is really difficult for me. It also costs money of course, which is another problem. I’m trying to hold out as long as possible…I don’t want to invest my time and money into a new cycle again. My problem is feeling forced to collect games that interest me. I can’t just ignore a game like some of you guys seeming able to do so :persevere:

What’s the best way to solve such a problem?

#814

Apparently I have 77 PS4 games. :scream:

Cost isn’t an issue for me, but I continue to have less time for games the older I get. This year I’ve been playing a lot of iOS games in bed and during my daily commute. The PS4’s suspend/resume feature is also a blessing for when you only have a short break from real-life responsibilities.

#815

@RpgN If you don’t then you’re stuck in the cold, unfeeling, hateful world where you can’t play Bloodborne.

#816

Plex media server is pretty cool. The PS4 client is now free and it seems to support most video formats.

#817

Works really shit for me compared to just using iOS app and firing it onto the TV with Chromecast.

#818

I only have a PS4 and a Wii U connected to my living room TV. The first three movies I tried worked flawlessly and the interface is both neat and easy to use.

#819

I think I’m going to make a thread about my backlog. I’m going to need your help guys.

77?!

How did you manage to do that?

And that’s while the big hitters will start hitting next year :smirk:

In that case, I should have felt all that and 10 times worse for still not playing DS, DS1 and DS2. I can forget about DS3 and BB…

  1. Two new PS+ games each month.
  2. My gaming PC is getting a bit old so I don’t mind playing the console ports of some games.
  3. There are actually plenty of awesome exclusives for the system.

#821

I’m surprised about there being plenty of awesome exclusives on the PS4.

I know of Bloodborne, Infamous and Disgaea 5. And those games fill a certain niche. Are you talking about them?

#822

I tried the PSP remake of the first Disgaea and it is not a series for me. Way too grindy for my taste.

Here is a list of the larger games I have. Since you’re not a PC gamer you also have a long list of third-party titles you could pick up.

  • Bloodborne
  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
  • Deception IV: The Nightmare Princess
  • Destiny
  • Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below
  • Driveclub
  • Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture
  • Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
  • inFamous: Second Son
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall
  • Knack
  • Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
  • Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence
  • The Order: 1886
  • Tearaway Unfolded
  • Until Dawn
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

On top of that there are a handful of good smaller downloadable games like Resogun and pinball.

#823

I’m not counting many exclusives? Most of them are multiplatform or also released on the PS3/Vita. Then you have exclusives that have not been received favorably or liked by specific users (Knack, Killzone etc.)

Looking at that list, from a person who is considering getting a PS4 for its exclusives…only Bloodborne, Infamous and Until Dawn stick out. I would also be interested in FF Type 0 even though I own the PSP version.

#824

I don’t care if other people don’t like the games I play. I’ve played through Knack twice and it is genuinely fun. Killzone: Shadow Fall is probably the weakest game in the series, but still worth playing if you can find it for cheap. Same thing goes for The Order: 1886. You can beat it in the same amount of time that you would need to grind a few levels in your average JRPG.
