Sony unveils trailer for its first PlayStation original series, 'Powers'

#1

Sony has deliberately focused on the gaming capabilities of the PlayStation 4 to date, but the console isn’t just about video games. Sony Pictures Television is currently producing a PlayStation Plus-exclusive original series, called Powers, and we’ve just got our first look at the show at New York Comic Con.

The cop drama is based on a comic of the same name, and it follows detectives who keep an eye on people with superpowers. According to a press release, the show asks: “what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?” Going off the trailer, it seems the show strikes a thoroughly mature tone, though we’ll just have to wait and see if Playstation’s first foray into programming is a success.

Don’t care about media with Live or PS+.

The trailer looked interesting and as good or better than something you’d see on cable. Wonder if it will be showed elsewhere.

Oh, it’s exclusive to plus? No wonder they announced it at Sony’s E3 press conference. I have to admit, I pretty much ignored everything the guy talking about it had said, perhaps he said so then.

This will show up on a network. Guaranteed.

Of course, it’ll show up in other places as well…
