Steam Broadcasting announced

#1

https://steamcommunity.com/updates/broadcasting

To try out Broadcasting now, both you and your friends need to opt into the Steam Client Beta. In the Steam client main menu, select Settings > Account and change your “Beta Participation” to “Steam Beta Update”.

How do I start & stop my broadcast?

When you’re playing a game and someone starts watching, you automatically start broadcasting. When you end the game your broadcast ends.

Hotdamn

Sadly not compatible with Firefox atm.

#4

Wait…what…wha…blah…uh…huh…whaaaa???

#5

The watching part works in OS X too. Not sure about streaming.

#6

Our @Vizzy playing some Distopia.

#7

Worst new feature ever.

#8

How so?

I wanna watch you play some Magic, arch.

#9

…but I’m a Firefox person.

#10

You’re not gonna watch yourself, silly…

#11

Only a matter of time. Though watching friends won’t be as big as orchestrated broadcasts.

#12

ya I had a feeling this was gonna be added sooner or later

no fps hit as far as I can tell, i got an 8 core /crazy good internet tho

a few people say the delay is prolly 5-8 seconds

I saw the popup showing you watching 180 but no chat box in steam overlay
might be because im using metro skin not official though

#13

Now my steam friends can watch me play Dota.

#14

oh also they let you steam chat via the web browser as well now, not just steam client

#15

I love you so much, Valve

#16

Just tried it, works great.

#17

Pretty soon I expect Valve to announce their own tablet and phone line.

#18

They’re not Google.
