Summon Night 6: Lost Borders announced for PS4 & Vita

#1

Summon Night 6 is set in the “Cocoon World” of Fillujah, following both male and female protagonists on a new journey. The male protagonist is described as a cheerful adventurer, while the female protagonist is described as a lone sniper.

Fillujah is described as a mysterious world wrapped in a huge barrier—a world where various things, including food, falls from the sky, by which the hero lives. One day, a mysterious being who was summoned from a different world called Lyndbaum drops down. The story questions: “What is the relationship between the Cocoon World and Lyndbaum?” “What kind of drama will unfold?”

Media Vision is the developer.

The graphics look rough. I hope it looks better on the PS4. The trailer has nice bagpipe music playing. Celtic music in the soundtrack is always welcome.

Gonna hit that with a meh so far. We’ll see how the gameplay looks

Seems generic as all getout, though

If you’re unfamiliar with the Summon Night series, they are old strategy RPG games, similar to Final Fantasy Tactics and the Disgaea series. I haven’t played the Summon Night games, but from what I’ve heard of the soundtracks from the earlier games, the music is nice. Summon Night 5 is releasing in the US soon for the PSP.

Here is a gameplay video of the Summon Night 3 PSP remake:

Summon Night 1-4 had sprite graphics. Summon Night 1-2 were originally released on PS1. Summon Night 3 was originally released on PS2. Summon Night 4 was originally released on PS2, and this was the main installment that became a flop. It forced Flight Plan, the series developer, to shutdown because they poured a lot of resources into development. Fast forward two years later, and Namco Bandai now owned the IP. They released Summon Night 5 on PSP, and for the first time in the series, switched the graphics from sprites to 3D polygons. Summon Night 5 was well-received when it came out. I might check that out when it releases here.
