Tales of Berseria

The next official installment of the Tales series has been announced at the Tales of Festival event in Yokohama. The platforms are PS4 and PS3. For the first time in the series, the protagonist will be female, and her name is Velvet. In a trailer shown there, she was being held in prison. In another scene, she is in some type of ship. There is also environmental footage of snow and grassy plains, and oceans during the ship scene. In the press release, it states that the game will have “cities covered in snow, perpetual summer islands, autumn leaves, and evening sunsets", in addition to a “diversity of situations” compared to previous Tales games.

I wonder how long they will continue to do cross-platform releases?

Eh, if a game’s not getting a PC release then I desperately want it to be cross-gen. I don’t see the gripe with it in general aside from it restricting PC features. It’s not like there’s THAT much more a PS4 RPG could have than the PS3.

The tales games are really hit or miss, but on that note I’m really excited for the new Star Ocean, and I’ll be picking that one up on ps3.

[edit] ok, wrong tales game, but this dramatically increases Berseria’s chances of a PC release.

Still don’t care that much. JRPGs aren’t really that technical anyways.

Velvet looks to have some kind of partial beast form. She has a giant red claw.

So far it looks too similar to the previous tales game. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing of course.
