Ubisoft Admits the Mess that Assassins Creed: Unity Was

Watch Ubisoft own up to the mess that was Assassin’s Creed Unity

In an approach that’s disturbingly rare in the video game industry, Ubisoft kicked off its reveal of Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate by admitting that some parts of Assassin’s Creed: Unity … kind of sucked.

“AC: U was the first one in the AC brand where we saw that it was a much lower Metacritic,” one staffer observes. Or, as another more bluntly puts it: “It’s like you’re a kid being told you’re ugly and you’re fat. It hurts. Your heart breaks a little bit.”

The clip, which you can watch above, also features members of the Assassin’s Creed team bemoaning the bugs the game was plagued with (which, to its credit, Ubisoft has attempted to address).

It can’t have been easy for a major publisher to admit to a black mark on its flagship franchise, but it was a refreshing bit of honesty that has us feeling more optimistic about what Ubisoft has in store for Syndicate, the trailer for which you can watch below.

Honestly it put a few points in their favor to own up to it and address it. Good on them.

Assassins Creed Syndicates looks considerably worse than Unity. So there’s that.

Well yeah. I mean, I’m not going to buy their games, but at least they’re not as shitty as they could be.

I have no problem with the people behind this game, but AC was once incredibly fresh, and nowadays it could not be further from it.

I love the title of this thread.
