Woo! I’m posting from Windows 10. The update failed three times and the first thing I noticed was that Waterfox had stopped working.
The biggest change for me is the improved framerate in the OS. I used to get minor screen tearing and UI lag effects with Windows 7/8.
W10 works perfectly on my laptop. It didn’t work correctly the first time because the vpn client was screwing it up.
I’m going to be getting a laptop soon for school and maybe down the road to play Final Fantasy 11, but I’m leaning towards getting a Toshiba. I could get one at Best Buy for $600. It has an i7, 8 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD, 1900 x 1080 display, and a 15.6" screen. Original price is $750, but they have a promotion running where current students get $150 off. Sound like a good deal?
Oddly enough, Waterfox started working again after a reboot. Well, I’ve been meaning to switch back to Firefox for a long while and they’ve been talking about starting to release 64-bit non-developer versions soon.
Aargh!! I found a new W10 bug/feature. My media keyboard now has two mute buttons instead of one mute button and one decrease volume button.
I told people elsewhere and I’ll stick to it. That OS should have been released in October. They rushed it for the college sales and it’s buggy enough to show that.
I have another set of media buttons on my speaker so I will be fine. I don’t think I’m running the official Logitech keyboard drivers either so that could possible solve the issue.
I think it was this one I was looking at, but it wasn’t gold:
But now I’m thinking about getting this instead:
Ideally, I’m looking for an i5, 8 GB RAM, HDD size isn’t important (though a solid state drive would be nice), and I’d like the keyboard to feel comfortable. It has to have a $600 - $700 price range.
You’re looking at the right components, Leo! An i5 CPU, 8 GB of RAM and a SSD are the most important parts. Then I would say it’s weight and vertical resolultion, but those are usually expensive to combine.
