MGS2 has aged in my brain into a game I non- ironically love with my heart.

#1411

Happy 2016. Hoping all the best for you folks in the new year. <3

#1412

Thanx!

#1413

I never stopped loving MGS2. It’s still my favorite.

#1414

Have a year.

#1415

Thanks.

Ended up having to take a friends cat to the vet at 2am because his urinary tract is blocked. $2k for treatment, though our friends will be reimbursing us. They are in south California on vacation and we have been watching the cats for them.

I hope he is okay and that the treatment will keep him healthy.

We lost our little guy Fender to the same thing, would hate to lose a friends cat in the same way.

freeBSD has aged in my brain into is an operating system I non-ironically love with my heart.

I still haven’t found a Linux distribution that I truly love and I end up installing a different one whenever I get a new computer.

#1418

What are you using now?

#1419

sounds like you should give freeBSD a try.

though freeBSD really shines on the server. never any nasty surprises, and most importantly, upgrading software doesn’t come with any feeling of trepidation. the ports system is just sublime.

I admit I use windows on my desktop computer, but only because I had to use it for years for ASP.NET development. i used slackware for good long while before that. i just found that with slackware I was losing too much time perfecting my dev environment (particularly the GUI).

i also bought a chromebook to see what chromeOS was like. quite honestly, it’s a pleasure to use when I want a distraction-free, robust desktop platform. with ssh it’s easy to manage VPS instances and with chrome apps it’s easy to get a dev environment set up using cloud9 or something like that. and that’s if you can’t be bothered to dual-boot with ubuntu.

my chromebook has replaced my hulking W500 as my on-the-road dev machine.

I use Linux Mint at work and currently nothing at home due to space constraints. My home development server was using CentOS.

Mint is basically Ubuntu but more user friendly. Most of the apps you would ever need are bundled with the OS. I have a beefy work computer so I don’t need to worry about bloat or performance issues.

I didn’t get banned, well my original account did a long time ago. I don’t really read GAF much though so I don’t care one way or the other.
