Ultros is NA, right? Shiva is EU.
The hell is a Legacy server anyway?
Oh thatās right. They have them separated by region. I forgot about that. Not cool, SQEX.
Legacy servers are the older servers during FFXIV 1.0
Pretty sure itās not region locked, but my internet connection is not the best to begin with so i went with the closest. Living in the worldās butt makes for slow downloads speeds!
I recently upgraded my connection to 25 MB/s, so Iām good. I havenāt played FFXIV in a long time, though. I beat the game, then lost interest in grinding for Allagan Tomestones to get better gear. I also didnāt have the nerve to attempt the Crystal Tower raid. Being in a 25-man party fighting several bosses in a dungeon sounds like fucking hell.
Just thinking of cross class stuff borks my brain, iām really not made for mmo complexity. I think iāll have my two weeks of low level fun and be done with it.
The music though, holy shit. Itās incredible.
I picked up Hills and Rivers Remain (iPhone) for $0.99 from the Square Enix sale. Itās a real-time strategy game where you need to conquer base nodes that generate troops so you can conquer new nodes. There are also special nodes that will boost the abilities of your troops. Stables boosts your speed, fortresses boosts your strength. Three levels in itās already pretty hectic.
Oh, yes, Bravely Default. I am positively loving this game. Iām fighting the boss in the first crystal and so far the game has been absolutely terrific. The combat design is very strong, unafraid of leaving you defenseless if you donāt think ahead or rethink your strategies when facing new foes. The only thing iād change would be making examine unnecessary for enemies youāve examined already. I feel like it would create an even stronger incentive to examine every new enemy you find, instead of benefiting just that one encounter. And perhaps make a clearer distinction in the combat ability menu as to which is your primary job and which is your secondary job. But those are passing discomforts at best.
I really did complain about the sheer volume of text that the game has, but so far i havenāt ever read anything less than pleasantly well written. The dialogue is incredibly strong, both the VO and the writing do an excellent job of giving each member a deliciously entertaining and unique personality, yet somehow still giving them a very strong sense of camaraderie that hides the fickle connections between them. So much so that iād rather they had skipped the introductory videos showing each character. Their introductions in the game itself are far better.
John - I agree. The first half of the game feels like a fun adventure. In fact, Iād love to see this game adapted into an anime. Iāve heard that the second half of the game falls apart really fast. It turns into a repetitious boss run, and these are bosses youāve fought already. I donāt like the sound of that at all.
Currently, in Bravely Default, Iāve saved the children in the Mythril Mine. Iām going to the Fire Temple next to awaken the crystal. I have Tiz as a knight and a secondary job as a spell fencer. Powering up your weapon using an elemental spell can significantly increase your physical damage. I want to try out a pirate. I heard itās a massive damage-dealer.
the battle system keeps you entertained the whole way through p much, the later chapters are basically boss gauntlets yes but its k
(also mostly optional fights iirc)
IMO these battles are good because they test your skills and they give you more insight into the bosses themselves storyline wise, you learn a lot. only one or two of them are bullshit hard
Cant wait for sequel!

a friend invited us over to play this and it was fun as hell. Definitely the most fun couch multi weāve had in a while. If you like Bomberman or Smash Bros, this is the way to go. The animation is super smooth and the controls are tight too.
I played a couple of rounds of it myself and it wasnāt fun as a solo game. I can definitely see it being great with more people.
Euro. Truck. Simulator. 2.
A game I considerably trashed until I found myself immersed in driving and listening to music. It fills that āI want to take the car and drive around the city and lose myself in the radioā vibe.
Someone should make a game where you drive around 80ās LA at night with a Nightcall cassette tape in the radio and a bunch of awesome 80ās albums in a tape case.
Iād play that.
The UI in Magic 2015 is really nice and you now unlock booster packs after each game. The starter decks are awful and with a limited selection of new cards from each expansion it will take some time for me to get a good enough deck to be able to play multiplayer online. Like all the previous Magic games from Stainless Games it has some weird issues, but this will likely be my go-to time waster while listening to podcasts for at least 50 hours.
