fuck you wyl

I’m having fun with Fallout Shelter. It’s like having an ant farm.

#463

Yep, this is addictive. I got some of the ladies preggers and now I have a decent collection of weapons and armor.

#464

This game needs to make its way to Android so I can get it on my tablet!

#466

" Android version ā€œhopefullyā€ out in a few months" according to Eurogamer. I’m already getting tired of it.

#467

Curious how much Apple had to pay for that

#468

I’m guessing nothing. I can’t imagine Apple paying for exclusives. Especially not for simple promotional games.

I’m almost done creating my first iOS title and I’m sticking to one platform since it’s faster to develop and easier to test.

#469

It’s been months since I played games. Except for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy here and there, about 30-50 minutes a day when all is good. I haven’t touched it in days though

Broken Sword 5 might be the best game in the series. I’m only 10% into the first episode, but they nailed both the art and the gameplay.

I’ve installed Fallout: New Vegas so I can give it another run through - I’m past the initial ā€˜oh shit my character really sucks and dies a lot’ phase and have some good weapons, and have gotten to see a wider range of characters. The world really opens up once you get near Primm - once you’re out of the ā€˜safe’ zone, there are strange monuments, and gigantic dried up lakes. The factions are interesting, the Caeser’s Legion does seem admittedly a bit overly villainous though. I think my favorite bit of writing so far has been the ghouls holed up in the rocket factory, specifically the human who thinks he’s a ghoul - it’s a classically Fallout moment for me, what really elevates it above 3 already is the far more eccentric cast of characters, even 8 hours in. I can already feel Black Isle-esque touches to the writing. It’s still not anywhere near as hard-hitting as the first 2 games though, despite Black Isle-esque writing, you’re not really presented ethical decisions that really challenge you to think about them, I mean, the original 2 Fallouts let you do some truly nasty things, run prostitution rings, become a slaver, even kill children and have to deal with those kind of complicated situations where it wasn’t as simple as ā€˜I go in and kill all da slavers’, what if the slavers kill their slaves before you get there? Perhaps it’s best to pay off the slavers, etc, etc. Things like that really defined the original games as smart, thoughtful games where you really were rewarded for thinking out the choices you made. This isn’t to say that New Vegas isn’t intelligent, it’s actually a very smartly written game, I appreciate that the game’s dialogue choices aren’t ā€˜SAINT option, NO OPINION option and ASSHOLE OF ALL ASSHOLES option’ and they contain a degree of nuance to them.

#472

What kind of build are you going for Das?

#473

I decided to make a character who deals exclusively in melee attacks and speech.

#474

I’m enjoying Terra Battle. Not much of a story so far, but I like the battle system. It’s a hybrid of a turn-based RPG and a board game. I don’t want to say it’s like chess or checkers, but some kind of strategic board game. The main idea is that in order to inflict damage, you have to surround an enemy on two sides or more. Depending on where your party members are positioned on the grid, you can link attacks. There are also leveling up, learning new skills, and healing other party members.

#475

I just started Blackguards and I’m already second guessing my choice of character class. It seems like a really deep and long game and I don’t want to end up with a class that is boring to play.

Just Dance 2015 is pretty fun with the right crowd.

#476

I don’t think that’s a crowd you want to hang out with.

#477

I’m ā€˜done’ with The Witcher 3. I’ll avoid spoiling things, as much as I can.

I say I’m ā€˜done’, because there’s still an absolutely enormous amount of things to do, but more importantly, things that feel worth the time do them after the main plotline. The writing is masterclass stuff for this genre of game, even small, unimportant quests that boil down to killing some guys/monsters tend to have interesting people, and interesting decisions to make. An example - Novigrad, the third major zone of the game has a shady merchant who sells passes of safe conduct so you can pass into novigrad, his price is steep, you can simply hypnotize him or you can help his brother in law fend off some necrophages for a steep discount. After you get to the area, you realize the ā€˜company’ you’re helping is a bunch of battlefield robbers, and you can turn away at that point if you don’t want to help that, if you do, and the brother dies, you then have to find a new way to get across to novigrad. The game is loaded with little interactions between small tasks that might those otherwise fairly menial RPG chores really interesting, and things you look to do. There are problems, but I hardly care about the game’s issues, because The Witcher 3 is to this point, one of the best games I’ve played in years, and perhaps more amazingly, it seems to have so much more to offer after the tangents and primary bits of the globe-trotting main quest.

#478

To little surprise, Chaos Rings Omega, is almost identical to Chaos Rings 1 and 2. It’s worse than pretty much any console RPG.

#479

Talos Principle has some really, really good themes. It’s pretty fantastic that they managed to explore religion, existence and the nature of artificial intelligence with such complexity and such few tools. I’m expecting good things from this one.

#480

The Witcher 3 is pretty ok.
