What are y'all playing? ver 2.0

Technobabylon is another great adventure game from Wadjet Eye Games.

#783

I’ve been playing more of Trails in the Sky SC. It’s so much fun. I have a full party now. Olivier is so entertaining.

#784

You can run backwards and sideways in Neon Struct. Pretty cool.

**Persona 4: Dancing All Night** starts out slow, but now that I'm in chapter 2 I'm really liking it. This time you have dance to save people from danger. The music stages are very similar to other rhythm games although I like this music better than Hatsune Miku or Love Live.

UNDERTALE gets hard at the end.

#787

Undertale isn’t the only one.

#788

I struggled.

Things took an unexpected turn. I was busy with Infinite Undiscovery for a while, but then I decided to continue with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and I got hooked on that for a couple of days.

Currently Playing:
Infinite Undiscovery
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call

I have been very positive about Infinite Undiscovery on my previous impressions. My expectations have been tempered somewhat after playing more of it.

If there’s one word to describe most of its flaws, then it would be clunkyness. Especially the fighting system and ‘Connect’ mode. It’s an action RPG where the attacks don’t feel fluid or smooth. It takes a while before you perform the moves you have selected. Maybe I still need to get used to the timing…but so far, it’s noticeable. As mentioned before, you connect to other characters if you want to have some control over their skills. This is a fairly clumsy way that takes time to make good use of with some characters. By the time you try to use a skill you need, the enemy is in a different position.

The most annoying part is using the ‘Creation’ mode (synthesizing equipment, food and items) through connecting with other characters. You can only create something when the character is near you. When you want to see if you can create something, you have to walk back to where your party member is or connect with different characters often because you want different things. Imagine doing this in a town…having to walk back every time you want to check whether your character can create things instead of buying them.

I’m still positive about the game though. The soundtrack is really something, it has some neat little ideas here and there and it has a heart. The world is colourful and there is still a lot of mystery about it. I have over 9 party members already.

Monster Hunter 3 has been addictive for the past 3 days. I managed to beat the last boss of the story portion. But after that, you unlock high rank missions. The progression system does not stop here. You still have stronger ingredients to make (for food), new masks, making new gear and weapons etc. The new missions are more challenging and exciting. I’ve created the first high rank equipment, a jaggi and wroggi armour.

There is something very rewarding about MH3 Ultimate. It’s like the devs thought about every little detail to make the game exactly how they wanted it to be. Also…I stare at all the atention put to the environments…you see a reflection of the water on a wall…leaves flying everywhere in mountain peaks, you see certain monsters only in certain places, you see rotten meat with bugs over them…you see animals behave as if they really are part of an ecosystem, the town and all that you can do with it is connected to the environments. Those moments make me certain that this game is special. It’s like it was made by masters. This tells me that there are still talented developers left with Capcom.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call happened yesterday. I played local versus mode for the first time with friends. It was sooooooooo much fun. It is also a great way to collect new cards quickly. It’s been ages since I played this game. Because of yesterday, I felt like playing more of it today.

I loved Infinite Undiscovery (I still think it’s a stupid title, but par for the course for Japanese RPG titles). Breaking the chains was interesting in the story. I disagree with you about the battle system. I found it addicting. By the end of the game, I was overpowered, and that’s when it was especially fun.

Secret of Mana
vacation away from fire-emblem-life-consuming-strategy-land into secret-of-mana-harmless-fun-ville.

Really enjoyed Undertale, despite it chasing its own tail a few too many times in story terms. Less is more when it comes to twists, I feel.

#793

I downloaded this month’s PS+ freebies and started out with Hardware: Rivals. It is better than I expected it to be. My expectations were low from watching the reveal trailer at one of the Sony conferences.

Now I really want to a new Warhawk for PS4.

#794

Shadow Complex Remastered is a really tight game and I can see why it ended up in a lot of GOTY lists back in 2009. At first glance it looked like it would be a really generic and bland shooter.

#795

On Chapter 6 of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC now. A major event happened, which resulted in great looking cinematic scenes. The royal army was chasing the ancient dragon Ragnard across the skies on their airships, then after you break the Gospel that was attached to its nose, the mind control was gone. Ragnard spoke to Estelle and her party. The dragon is reminding me of the dragons in Final Fantasy 14: Heavensward. It was a long scene of not controlling the characters. This is a long RPG. I’m at over 50 hours of play time, and I’m still not near the end.

The jumping is floatier than I remembered, but yeah, it still super holds up. Great homage to Super Metroid.

#797

Started playing Yakuza 5. It’s a game.

#798

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is pretty good comfort food.

#799

Thank you for saying the full title.

Oh wow, if you wear a fitness tracker and upload your scores to impress your friends you’ll have quite the weird experience with the AC database. They have some strong words for you!

#801

Finished Fallout 4 (good), Her Story (reasonably good) and A Beginner’s Guide (interesting).

Not sure what to do next.

Considering:

  • Batman AK
  • Starcraft 2: HotS
  • Shadow Complex
  • Transistor
  • Tales from the Borderlands
