What are y'all playing? ver 2.0

I can’t wait for HM2… Love that game.

I’m really enjoying Transistor. It does a lot right. It punishes failures by making you adapt your play style instead of slapping you with fail-states, encourages variety in play by tying world-building to to mechanics, and just looks and sounds amazing.t

I played a bit of Steamworld Dig. For some reason i was expecting it to have randomized dungeons, which it doesn’t? I really like the movement mechanics so far. It’s hard not to enjoy some light metroidvania too.

Though it made me notice just how weightless and useless the dialogue is. The developer didn’t really care enough to make it interesting or important.

#124

Are you just playing it for the first time Das??! One of my favorite games ever.

#125

Yup.

And Lovely Planet. This game is crack. Bought it yesterday and couldn’t put it down. It also gets pretty challenging.

No crosshair?

#127

You have no crosshair so you have to judge your shots right.

#128

Or put a little sticky dot on the middle of your monitor

Civilization: Beyond Earth on the highest difficulty and the largest map size can be pretty intense. My defenses are strong enough to dissuade the other players to invade me, but I’m not sure I will be able to disrupt their victory strategies. At the moment I’m ranked in the middle out of 8 players and it’s going to take me another ~75 turns to get a tech victory.

Thanks for the bonus gif @DG_Nick

Gaming wise has taken a bit of a backseat. I’ve been busy with other things, haven’t had the time to invest into ‘‘deep’’ or complicated games. Also my habit has changed into playing new games. I still need to continue or finish other games like MH3, Drawn to Life and Heroes of Mana.

New Games:

Scram Kitty (Wii U Eshop)
Hatsune Miku Project Diva f (vita)
Freedom Wars (vita)

What started as testing the game out with its new patch, ended up in playing it properly. Scram Kitty is not a game for everyone but I love it. It’s that arcade type of gameplay with fair challenge, cute 2D aesthetics and addiction kicking in once you master the controls. I’m close to finishing it. Almost put 11 into it. Its length is perfect, never overstaying its welcome and remaining interesting.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva was on sale not too long ago. Of course I’d get it. You know what to expect from Miku. This pretty much follows the footsteps of what I played on the psp, only more user-friendly and with quicker loading times. Loading times are a big deal, along with having better shortcuts. Such as allowing you to purchase new stuff through other modes. The PSP version would load ages to play songs, equip modules or going to other modes. Also you could only purchase stuff from the main menu, hence the handy shortcuts. Lastly I find myself having more fun with diva rooms for some reason. The inclusion of touch controls wasn’t as bad as I feared. Also is it me, or it seems like you get perfect more easily? Before you had to have cool on all notes, now it’s enough just to keep the combo going. Song selection is subjective, I like the ones from this. I’d say this game is better for the improvements, but you can never have enough of miku games. Getting them for the new songs or modules is satisfying. I’ve completed the game on normal actually, but now I’m trying to do hard and get a platinum.

I’ve touched Freedom Wars 2 times quickly. I started on it last Thursday as an ideal mutiplayer game to play with friends but we haven’t seen much of that due to the amount of text and multi being locked as of now XD This game looks appealing with its style, we’ll see how it goes.

Currently Playing:

Mario Kart 8 (time trials mode)

After getting all stars on reverse mode I still haven’t had enough of this game. My next mission is beating all time trials to collect all 90 stamps. 2 Cups left.

I’ve been playing MK8 together with Scram Kitty on shurt bursts. Spending around an hour and half together every time. They will be both completed around the same time soon.

Bayonetta 2 is cringe-worthy most of the time. It’s not easy to see what’s going on but as long as I’m hitting, kicking or shooting at things I’m having fun.

I keep trying to play the 15 day trial for FFXIV but for some reason my IE is all types of fucked up and the FFXIV launcher is dependent on it working so i can’t play it :fish:

I’ve been playing Dark Souls 2 for the last few days, about 17 hours in. I’m in, um, the Huntsman Copse i think. It’s ok… it’s not as mindbendingly good as DS was, but it’s still a perfectly fine game if you don’t mind the lack of cohesion in the game world. The art is nonetheless extremely good, and the combat is still very satisfying (even if they changed the Scimitar moveset… :squirrel: ).

Also went back to Radiant Historia, which i stopped playing a long, long time ago. I had forgotten how… weird the story is. Sometimes the writing is very nice, but often it feels like they were unyieldingly locked to the format of the story and had to shoddily write themselves out of every situation where said format inconvenienced the game. It’s also very clear that they were far more ambitious than permitted either by their skill, by the realities of production, or by the system itself. All of the qualities that i’d ascribe first and foremost to shoverlware. And this makes me a sad

Lovely Planet is kicking my ass.

#134

The misses and I started a new playthrough of New Vegas over the weekend, heavily modded for the first time. We’re both hooked all over again.

Feels like the first time.

#135

What build are you planning?

#136

Character Build? I dunno. Sneak & Lockpick are essential skills no matter what. Trying to bring up my repair, science, speech, lockpick, and sneak up together, which is hard. My main quandary right now is definitely Guns vs Energy Weapons.

#137

It just came out on iOS yesterday so I got it for iPad - $12. It’s fun, very polished, apt controls …but i suck at it.

#138

BlazBlue CS. Only fighting game franchise I’m into these days.

Alright, let’s see here…

I beat Professor Layton Vs Phoenix Wright. The twist at the end was wonderful. I didn’t anticipate that.

I played through all thirteen Final Fantasy installments in Theatrhythm. I suppose that counts as “beating the game”. I didn’t think I’d enjoy the timed stylus touches on the screen as much as I did, but the game doesn’t have a high replay value, unfortunately. Not sure if I want to play the sequel.

I just beat Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII right now. I had a hell of a time fighting Bhunivelze. He’s one tough bastard. I beat him on my third attempt. His fourth phase is the hardest because his stagger threshold is high. I was burning through X-Potions and Phoenix Downs. I was very close to dying, but once you stagger him, he presumably stays in that condition until you kill him.

I’m also playing Bravely Default. The Brave and Default systems are strategic tools during battle, although I’m finding leveling to be a grind. I want to level up all these intriguing jobs I’m getting. Some of the jobs are not found in other games, such as the merchant. I didn’t realize there was a Japanese voice track in the options. That was awesome to find out. It’s much preferred over the English voice acting. Some of those voices are cringe-worthy.

[/quote]The sequel added a lot more songs and a new quest mode where you walk around on a map and try to complete multiple songs in a row. It’s better in every way, but also very similar to the original.
